3rd WEB SYMPOSIUM PREFACE
The field of Alzheimer’s drug discovery has suffered sequential failures due to the multifactorial nature of the disease and its long asymptomatic phase. As BrainFit4Life and Intracell Research Group, we acknowledge the lesson learned. With the 3rd Web symposium, we would like to take the opportunity to highlight ongoing developments in preclinical and clinical neuroscience investigating promising therapeutics and diagnostics for Alzheimer’s disease. The scope of the meeting is to foster the exchange between interdisciplinary scientists, technologists, and opinion leaders.
The meeting is composed of 2 sessions with talks of 25min from international and national experts followed by 5min for Q&A:
- Session I (3-6pm): Disease drivers and therapeutic MoAs Featuring Prof. George Perry, Prof. Brian Balin, Dr. Wendy Qiu, Dr. Xiaoling Zhang
- Session II (6-9pm): Therapeutics in clinical trials Featuring Prof. Jacobo Mintzer, Dr. Frances Quevenco, Dr. Feixiong Cheng and Dr. Mark Nelson
Each Session ends with a Panel Discussion to which all speakers are invited.
The take-home message is that departing from the “one-drug fits all” dogma, multiple druggable mechanisms of action should be identified along the disease development through patient stratification over genetic and environmental risk mining.
